Ten Days Chasing Waterfalls Around Iceland's Ring Road

A camper van, one week of sideways rain, and a rainbow at Skógafoss that made every soggy sock worth it.

Iceland in February is a coin flip between miracle and misery, sometimes inside the same hour. We rented a tiny 4x4 camper, filled the back with wool blankets and skyr, and drove the full Ring Road counter-clockwise in ten days.

Skógafoss is the postcard: 200 feet of white water dropping off a green cliff, and if the sun is even slightly out, a permanent rainbow at the base. Climb the 527 stairs on the right side for the view down the river; almost nobody does.

The real magic, though, is between the famous stops. Pull over at any random farm road. There's probably a waterfall nobody has bothered to name.
